About PT-141 10mg
What is PT-141?
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic melanocortin peptide. It is studied in laboratory assays of melanocortin receptor signalling, chiefly at the melanocortin-3 and melanocortin-4 receptors (MC3R/MC4R).
CAS: 189691-06-3. Bremelanotide is a centrally-acting melanocortin peptide that has been characterized for its MC3R/MC4R pharmacology.
Mechanism of Action
The melanocortin connection
PT-141 is a derivative of Melanotan II, but with narrower receptor selectivity. MT-II binds MC1R through MC5R. PT-141 was engineered to act primarily at MC3R/MC4R, with minimal melanogenic activity. It is the difference between a shotgun and a rifle.
Mechanism
MC3R and MC4R agonism in hypothalamic nuclei. These receptors are part of the melanocortin system — the same pathway that regulates appetite, energy balance, and pigmentation.
